The ultimate mission of the Fresh Neighbours Fund is to support an alternative ecosystem to the current mainstream media and corporate environment in which first and second generation immigrants have equal representation, opportunity and the ability to build independently without having to compromise on their values and culture.

Why Now?

Growing up as a first or second generation immigrant in a new homeland is an experience filled with uncertainty, a lack of clear identity, role models and stories to cling to when trying to pave the path forward.

However, these challenges also present the gift of freedom to forge our own paths. This freedom, born from the lack of predefined societal roles, allows us to explore new realms of creativity. The fusion of cultures from our motherland and that of our new home, mix together like two different colours to produce a fresh and beautiful new hue.

However, amidst this potential, we often find ourselves hesitating, influenced by a misplaced sense of gratitude and a fear of overstepping boundaries. We mistakenly equate survival and success in a new land with the need to conform, silencing our creative voices and dimming our inner light.

Yet, within our communities, there are those who dare to dream bigger, inspired by the legacy of resilience and courage that carried them or their forebears to new shores. This inherent drive to explore and create, deeply embedded in our immigrant DNA, becomes a force too compelling to ignore. Fresh Neighbours is here to celebrate those that make the leap forward into the unknown and help support them as they step into their power and find their unique voice.

The Pathway to Change: Our Plan

  • Step 1: Inspire

    Doubt often clouds our belief in what’s possible, especially in the absence of relatable role models. FN aims to inspire the next generation of creators by showcasing the stories of those that have come before them.

  • Step 2: Educate

    As an immigrant, specific knowledge can be difficult to access, hidden amongst networks that we’re not a part of or don’t have access to. Our goal is to remove the gatekeepers and ensure that anyone can find the right people and resources to help them along their journey.

  • Step 3: Empower

    Financial constraints should never stifle creativity. FN is committed to removing this obstacle by providing the necessary funds, resources, and equipment to fuel the creative pursuits of those ready to take the next step.
